Solomon Moves the Ark into the Temple

5:2 Then Solomon convened Israel’s elders – all the leaders of the Israelite tribes and families – in Jerusalem, ¹  so they could witness the transferal of the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the City of David ²  (that is, Zion). ³ 

2 Chronicles 11:1

11:1 When Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he summoned 180,000 skilled warriors from Judah and Benjamin ⁴  to attack Israel and restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.

2 Chronicles 20:26

20:26 On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, where ⁵  they praised the Lord. So that place is called the Valley of Berachah ⁶  to this very day.

[5:2]  ² sn The phrase the City of David refers here to the fortress of Zion in Jerusalem, not to Bethlehem. See 2 Sam 5:7.

[5:2]  ³ tn Heb “Then Solomon convened the elders of Israel, the heads of the tribes, the chiefs of the fathers belonging to the sons of Israel to Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the City of David (it is Zion).”

[11:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “he summoned the house of Judah and Benjamin, 180,000 chosen men, accomplished in war.”

[20:26]  ⁷ tn Heb “for there.”

[20:26]  ⁸ sn The name Berachah, which means “blessing” in Hebrew, is derived from the verbal root “to praise [or “to bless”],” which appears earlier in the verse.
