[6:16]  1 tn Heb “there will not be cut off from you a man from before me sitting on the throne of Israel.”

[6:16]  2 tn Heb “guard their way by walking in my law as you have walked before me.”

[10:16]  3 sn The people’s point seems to be that they have no familial relationship with David that brings them any benefits or places upon them any obligations. They are being treated like outsiders.

[10:16]  4 tn Heb “each one to your tents, Israel.” The word “return” is supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[10:16]  5 tn Heb “Now see your house, David.”

[10:16]  6 tn Heb “went to their tents.”

[19:10]  5 tn Heb “and every case which comes to you from your brothers who live in their cities.”

[19:10]  6 tn Heb “between blood pertaining to blood.”

[19:10]  7 tn Heb “and anger will be upon you and your brothers; do this and you will not be guilty.”

[19:11]  7 tn Heb “and look, Amariah the chief priest is over you with respect to every matter of the Lord, and Zebadiah…with respect to every matter of the king.”

[19:11]  8 tn Heb “Be strong and act!”

[20:25]  9 tn Or “army.”

[20:25]  10 tc The MT reads פְגָרִים (fÿgarim, “corpses”), but this seems odd among a list of plunder. A few medieval Hebrew mss and the Vulgate read בְגָדִים (vÿgadim, “clothing”), which fits the context much better.

[20:25]  11 tn Heb “and they snatched away for themselves so that there was no carrying away.”

[20:25]  12 tn Heb “and they were three days looting the plunder for it was great.”

[24:12]  11 tn Heb “doers of the work.”

[24:23]  13 tn Heb “turning.”

[24:23]  14 tn Heb “went up against.”

[24:23]  15 tn Heb “him”; the referent (Joash) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[25:18]  15 sn The thorn bush in the allegory is Judah. Amaziah’s success had deceived him into thinking he was on the same level as the major powers in the area (symbolized by the cedar). In reality he was not capable of withstanding an attack by a real military power such as Israel (symbolized by the wild animal).

[29:12]  17 tn Heb “and the Levites arose.”

[30:5]  19 tn Heb “and they caused to stand a word to cause a voice to pass through.”

[30:5]  20 tn The words “summoning the people” are supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[30:5]  21 tn Heb “because not for abundance had they done as written.”

[31:19]  21 tn Heb “the priests in the fields of the pastureland of their cities in every city and city.”

[31:19]  22 tn Heb “designated by names.”

[32:21]  23 tn Or “an angel.”

[32:21]  24 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Sennacherib) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[32:21]  25 tn Heb “and he returned with shame of face to his land.”

[32:21]  26 tn Heb “and some from those who went out from him, from his inward parts.”

[34:31]  25 tc This assumes an emendation to עַמּוּדוֹ (’ammudo), see 23:13. The MT reads “at his place.”

[34:31]  26 tn Heb “cut,” that is, “made” or “agreed to.”

[34:31]  27 tn Heb “walk after.”

[34:31]  28 tn Or “soul.”

[34:31]  29 tn Heb “words.”

[35:21]  27 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Neco) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[35:21]  28 tn Heb “What to me and to you, king of Judah?”

[35:21]  29 tn Heb “Not against you, you, today, but against the house of my battle.”

[35:21]  30 tn Heb “Stop yourself from [opposing] God who is with me and let him not destroy you.”

[36:22]  29 tn The words “the reign of” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

[36:22]  30 tn Heb “to complete the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah.”

[36:22]  31 tn Heb “stirred the spirit of.”
