Context6:27 then listen from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Certainly 1 you will then teach them the right way to live 2 and send rain on your land that you have given your people to possess. 3

Context10:16 When all Israel saw that the king refused to listen to them, the people answered the king, “We have no portion in David – no share in the son of Jesse! 4 Return to your homes, O Israel! 5 Now, look after your own dynasty, O David!” 6 So all Israel returned to their homes. 7


[6:27] 1 tn The present translation understands כִּי (ki) in an emphatic or asseverative sense (“Certainly”). Other translation have “indeed” (NASB), “when” (NRSV), “so” (NEB), or leave the word untranslated (NIV).
[6:27] 2 tn Heb “the good way in which they should walk.”
[6:27] 3 tn Or “for an inheritance.”
[10:16] 4 sn The people’s point seems to be that they have no familial relationship with David that brings them any benefits or places upon them any obligations. They are being treated like outsiders.
[10:16] 5 tn Heb “each one to your tents, Israel.” The word “return” is supplied in the translation for stylistic reasons.
