6:30 then listen from your heavenly dwelling place, forgive their sin, ¹  and act favorably toward each one based on your evaluation of their motives. ²  (Indeed you are the only one who can correctly evaluate the motives of all people.) ³

13:8 Now you are declaring that you will resist the Lord’s rule through the Davidic dynasty. ⁴  You have a huge army, ⁵  and bring with you the gold calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

2 Chronicles 20:6

20:6 He prayed: “O Lord God of our ancestors, ⁶  you are the God who lives in heaven ⁷  and rules over all the kingdoms of the nations. You possess strength and power; no one can stand against you.

[6:30]  ² tn Heb “and act and give to each one according to all his ways because you know his heart.” In the Hebrew text vv. 28-30a actually contain one lengthy conditional sentence, which the translation has divided up for stylistic reasons.

[6:30]  ³ tn Heb “Indeed you know, you alone, the heart of all the sons of mankind.”

[13:8]  ⁴ tn Heb “the kingdom of the Lord by the hand of the sons of David.”

[13:8]  ⁵ tn Or “horde”; or “multitude.”

[20:6]  ⁸ tn Heb “are you not God in heaven?” The rhetorical question expects the answer “yes,” resulting in the positive statement “you are the God who lives in heaven” employed in the translation.
