6:38 When they return to you with all their heart and being 1  in the land where they are held prisoner and direct their prayers toward the land you gave to their ancestors, your chosen city, and the temple I built for your honor, 2

20:9 ‘If disaster comes on us in the form of military attack, 3  judgment, plague, or famine, we will stand in front of this temple before you, for you are present in this temple. 4  We will cry out to you for help in our distress, so that you will 5  hear and deliver us.’

2 Chronicles 34:4

Context
34:4 He ordered the altars of the Baals to be torn down, 6  and broke the incense altars that were above them. He smashed the Asherah poles, idols and images, crushed them up and sprinkled the dust over the tombs of those who had sacrificed to them.

[6:38]  2 tn Heb “your name.” The word “name” sometimes refers to one’s reputation or honor (thus the translation here, “your honor).

[20:9]  3 tn Heb “sword.”

[20:9]  4 tn Heb “for your name is in this house.” The “name” of the Lord sometimes designates the Lord himself, being indistinguishable from the proper name. In this case the temple is referred to as a “house” where the Lord himself can reside.

[34:4]  5 tn Heb “and they tore down before him the altars of the Baals.”
