7:1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven 1  and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the Lord’s splendor filled the temple.

17:5 The Lord made his kingdom secure; 2  all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he became very wealthy and greatly respected. 3

Context

32:27 Hezekiah was very wealthy and greatly respected. He made storehouses for his silver, gold, precious stones, spices, and all his other valuable possessions. 4

[7:1]  1 tn Or “the sky.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heaven(s)” or “sky” depending on the context.

[17:5]  2 tn Heb “established the kingdom in his hand.”

[17:5]  3 tn Heb “and he had wealth and honor in abundance.”

[32:27]  3 tc The Hebrew text reads literally, “and shields and all the desirable items.” The present translation assumes an emendation of מָגִנִּים (maginnim, “shields”) to מִגְדָּנִים (migdanim, “precious items”). See v. 23.
