Solomon Entertains a Queen

9:1 When the queen of Sheba heard about Solomon, ¹  she came to challenge ²  him ³  with difficult questions. ⁴  She arrived in Jerusalem ⁵  with a great display of pomp, ⁶  bringing with her camels carrying spices, ⁷  a very large quantity of gold, and precious gems. She visited Solomon and discussed with him everything that was on her mind.

2 Chronicles 29:16

29:16 The priests then entered the Lord’s temple to purify it; they brought out to the courtyard of the Lord’s temple every ceremonially unclean thing they discovered inside. ⁸  The Levites took them out to the Kidron Valley.

2 Chronicles 30:6

30:6 Messengers ⁹  delivered the letters from the king and his officials throughout Israel and Judah.

This royal edict read: ¹⁰  “O Israelites, return to the Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, so he may return ¹¹  to you who have been spared from the kings of Assyria. ¹² 

2 Chronicles 32:5

32:5 Hezekiah ¹³  energetically rebuilt ¹⁴  every broken wall. He erected towers and an outer wall, ¹⁵  and fortified the terrace of the City of David. ¹⁶  He made many weapons and shields.

[9:1]  ³ tn Heb “Solomon.” The recurrence of the proper name here is redundant in terms of contemporary English style, so the pronoun has been used in the translation instead.
