9:29 The rest of the events of Solomon’s reign, from start to finish, are recorded 1  in the Annals of Nathan the Prophet, the Prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and the Vision of Iddo the Seer pertaining to Jeroboam son of Nebat.

2 Chronicles 28:23

Context
28:23 He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus whom he thought had defeated him. 2  He reasoned, 3  “Since the gods of the kings of Damascus helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.” But they caused him and all Israel to stumble.

2 Chronicles 31:6

Context
31:6 The Israelites and people of Judah 4  who lived in the cities of Judah also contributed a tenth of their cattle and sheep, as well as a tenth of the holy items consecrated to the Lord their God. They brought them and placed them in many heaps. 5 

2 Chronicles 34:16

34:16 Shaphan brought the scroll to the king and reported, 6  “Your servants are doing everything assigned to them.

[9:29]  1 tn Heb “As for the rest of the events of Solomon, the former and the latter, are they not written?”

[28:23]  2 tn Heb “the gods of Damascus, the ones who had defeated him.” The words “he thought” are supplied in the translation for clarification. The perspective is that of Ahaz, not the narrator! Another option is that “the kings” has been accidentally omitted after “gods of.” See v. 23b.

[28:23]  3 tn Heb “said.”

[31:6]  3 tn Heb “and the sons of Israel and Judah.”

[31:6]  4 tn Heb “heaps, heaps.” Repetition of the noun draws attention to the large number of heaps.

[34:16]  4 tn Heb “returned still the king a word, saying.”
