9:31 Then Solomon passed away ¹  and was buried in the city of his father David. His son Rehoboam replaced him as king.

10:1 Rehoboam traveled to Shechem, for all Israel had gathered in ²  Shechem to make Rehoboam ³  king.

[10:1]  ² tn Heb “come [to].”

[10:1]  ³ tn Heb “him”; the referent (Rehoboam) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[10:3]  ³ tn Heb “They sent and called for him.”

[10:13]  ⁴ tn Heb “Rehoboam.” The pronoun “he” has been used in the translation in place of the proper name in keeping with contemporary English style.
