2 Kings 1:9

1:9 The king ¹  sent a captain and his fifty soldiers ²  to retrieve Elijah. ³  The captain ⁴  went up to him, while he was sitting on the top of a hill. ⁵  He told him, “Prophet, ⁶  the king says, ‘Come down!’”

2 Kings 9:12

9:12 But they said, “You’re lying! Tell us what he said.” So he told them what he had said. He also related how he had said, ⁷  “This is what the Lord says, ‘I have designated you as king over Israel.’”

2 Kings 18:37

Nebuchadnezzar Destroys Jerusalem

25:8 On the seventh ⁹  day of the fifth month, ¹⁰  in the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard ¹¹  who served the king of Babylon, arrived in Jerusalem. ¹² 

2 Kings 25:11

25:11 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard, deported the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had deserted to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen. ¹³

[9:12]  ⁷ tn Heb “So he said, ‘Like this and like this he said to me, saying.’” The words “like this and like this” are probably not a direct quote of Jehu’s words to his colleagues. Rather this is the narrator’s way of avoiding repetition and indicating that Jehu repeated, or at least summarized, what the prophet had said to him.

[25:8]  ¹⁹ tn The parallel account in Jer 52:12 has “tenth.”
