2 Kings 10:5

Context
10:5 So the palace supervisor, 1  the city commissioner, 2  the leaders, 3  and the guardians sent this message to Jehu, “We are your subjects! 4  Whatever you say, we will do. We will not make anyone king. Do what you consider proper.” 5

2 Kings 14:28

Context

14:28 The rest of the events of Jeroboam’s reign, including all his accomplishments, his military success in restoring Israelite control over Damascus and Hamath, are recorded in the scroll called the Annals of the Kings of Israel. 6

2 Kings 23:24

Context

23:24 Josiah also got rid of 7  the ritual pits used to conjure up spirits, 8  the magicians, personal idols, disgusting images, 9  and all the detestable idols that had appeared in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem. In this way he carried out the terms of the law 10  recorded on the scroll that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the Lord’s temple.

The Syriac Peshitta has simply “to Israel.” M. Cogan and H. Tadmor (II Kings [AB], 162) offer this proposal, but acknowledge that it is “highly speculative.”

[23:24]  11 tn Here בִּעֵר (bier) is not the well attested verb “burn,” but the less common homonym meaning “devastate, sweep away, remove.” See HALOT 146 s.v. בער.
