13:6 But they did not repudiate ¹  the sinful ways of the family ²  of Jeroboam, who encouraged Israel to sin; they continued in those sins. ³  There was even an Asherah pole ⁴  standing in Samaria.

16:3 He followed in the footsteps of ⁵  the kings of Israel. He passed his son through the fire, ⁶  a horrible sin practiced by the nations ⁷  whom the Lord drove out from before the Israelites.

[13:6]  ³ tc Heb “in it he walked.” The singular verb (הָלַךְ, halakh) is probably due to an error of haplography and should be emended to the plural (הָלְכּוּ, halÿku). Note that a vav immediately follows (on the form וְגַם, vÿgam).
