16:3 He followed in the footsteps of ¹  the kings of Israel. He passed his son through the fire, ²  a horrible sin practiced by the nations ³  whom the Lord drove out from before the Israelites.

2 Kings 18:18

18:18 They summoned the king, so Eliakim son of Hilkiah, the palace supervisor, accompanied by Shebna the scribe and Joah son of Asaph, the secretary, went out to meet them.

[16:3]  ³ tn Heb “like the abominable practices of the nations.”

[19:35]  ⁴ tn This refers to the Israelites and/or the rest of the Assyrian army.

[19:35]  ⁵ tn Heb “look, all of them were dead bodies.”
