17:11 They burned incense on all the high places just like the nations whom the Lord had driven away from before them. Their evil practices made the Lord angry. ¹

17:17 They passed their sons and daughters through the fire, ²  and practiced divination and omen reading. They committed themselves to doing evil in the sight of the Lord and made him angry. ³

21:6 He passed his son ⁴  through the fire ⁵  and practiced divination and omen reading. He set up a ritual pit to conjure up underworld spirits, and appointed magicians to supervise it. ⁶  He did a great amount of evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger. ⁷

[21:6]  ⁶ tc Heb “and he multiplied doing what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, angering.” The third masculine singular pronominal suffix (“him”) has been accidentally omitted in the MT by haplography (note the vav that immediately follows).

[22:17]  ⁶ tn Heb “angering me with all the work of their hands.” The translation assumes that this refers to idols they have manufactured (note the preceding reference to “other gods,” as well as 19:18). However, it is possible that this is a general reference to their sinful practices, in which case one might translate, “angering me by all the things they do.”

[23:26]  ⁶ tn Heb “Yet the Lord did not turn away from the fury of his great anger, which raged against Judah, on account of all the infuriating things by which Manasseh had made him angry.”
