2 Kings 17:35

17:35 The Lord made an agreement ¹  with them ²  and instructed them, “You must not worship other gods. Do not bow down to them, serve them, or offer sacrifices to them.

2 Kings 17:37

17:37 You must carefully obey at all times the rules, regulations, law, and commandments he wrote down for you. You must not worship other gods.

[17:35]  ² sn That is, the descendants of Jacob/Israel (see v. 35b).

[18:5]  ³ tn Heb “and after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, and those who were before him.”

[18:35]  ⁵ tn Heb “that the Lord might rescue Jerusalem from my hand?” The logic runs as follows: Since no god has ever been able to withstand the Assyrian onslaught, how can the people of Jerusalem possibly think the Lord will rescue them?

[19:16]  ⁷ tn Heb “Hear the words of Sennacherib which he sent to taunt the living God.”
