19:18 They have burned the gods of the nations, ¹  for they are not really gods, but only the product of human hands manufactured from wood and stone. That is why the Assyrians could destroy them. ² 

2 Kings 22:17

22:17 This will happen because they have abandoned me and offered sacrifices ³  to other gods, angering me with all the idols they have made. ⁴  My anger will ignite against this place and will not be extinguished!’”

2 Kings 16:10

16:10 When King Ahaz went to meet with King Tiglath-pileser of Assyria in Damascus, he saw the altar there. ⁵  King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest a drawing of the altar and a blueprint for its design. ⁶ 

2 Kings 23:19

23:19 Josiah also removed all the shrines on the high places in the cities of Samaria. The kings of Israel had made them and angered the Lord. ⁷  He did to them what he had done to the high place in Bethel. ⁸

[19:18]  ² tn Heb “so they destroyed them.”

[22:17]  ³ tn Or “burned incense.”

[22:17]  ⁴ tn Heb “angering me with all the work of their hands.” The translation assumes that this refers to idols they have manufactured (note the preceding reference to “other gods,” as well as 19:18). However, it is possible that this is a general reference to their sinful practices, in which case one might translate, “angering me by all the things they do.”

[16:10]  ⁵ tn Heb “in Damascus.”

[16:10]  ⁶ tn Heb “the likeness of the altar and its pattern for all its work.”

[23:19]  ⁷ tc Heb “which the kings of Israel had made, angering.” The object has been accidentally omitted in the MT. It appears in the LXX, Syriac, and Vulgate versions.

[23:19]  ⁸ tn Heb “and he did to them according to all the deeds he had done in Bethel.”
