  1. Siapakah yang menerima kabar mulia sorgawi? Bukan para ahli Kitab, bukan pula para nabi, Bukan raja Yerusalem, bukan kaisar dari Roma: Hanyalah gembala di Betlehem.	Mat 2:3-4 , Luk 1:1-20

  God of love, that hearest prayer, Kindly for Thy people care, Who on Thee alone depend: Love us, save us to the end. Save us, in the prosperous hour, From the flattering tempter’s power, From his unsuspected wiles, From the world’s pernicious smiles. Cut off our dependence vain On the help of feeble man, Every arm of flesh remove; Stay us on Thy only love! Men of worldly, low design, Let not these Thy people join, Poison our simplicity, Drag us from our trust in Thee. Save us from the great and wise, Till they sink in their own eyes, Tamely to Thy yoke submit, Lay their honors at Thy feet. Never let the world break in; Fix a mighty gulf between: Keep us little and unknown, Prized and loved by God alone.   Great King of nations, hear our prayer, While at Thy feet we fall, And humbly with united cry To Thee for mercy call; The guilt is ours, but grace is Thine, O turn us not away; But hear us from Thy lofty throne, And help us when we pray. Our fathers’ sins were manifold, And ours no less we own, Yet wondrously from age to age Thy goodness has been shown; When dangers, like a stormy sea, Beset our country round, To Thee we looked, to Thee we cried, And help in Thee was found. With one consent we meekly bow Beneath Thy chastening hand, And, pouring forth confession meet, Mourn with our mourning land; With pitying eye behold our need, As thus we lift our prayer; Correct us with Thy judgments, Lord, Then let Thy mercy spare.

  God from on high hath heard; Let sighs and sorrows cease; Lo! from the opening Heav’n descends To man the promised Peace. Hark! through the silent night Angelic voices swell; Their joyful songs proclaim that “God Is born on earth to dwell.” See how the shepherd band Speed on with eager feet; Come to the hallowed cave with them The Holy Babe to greet. But, oh, what sight appears Within that lowly door! A manger, stall, and swaddling clothes, A Child and mother poor! Art Thou the Christ? the Son? The Father’s image bright? And see we Him Whose arm upholds Earth and the starry height? Yea, faith can pierce the cloud Which veils Thy glory now; We hail Thee, God, before Whose throne The angels prostrate bow. A silent Teacher, Lord, Thou bidd’st us not refuse To bear what flesh would have us shun, To shun what flesh would choose.   My God, is any hour so sweet From blush of morn to evening star, As that which calls me to Thy feet— The hour of prayer? Blest is that tranquil hour of morn, And blest that hour of solemn eve, When, on the wings of prayer upborne, The world I leave. Then is my strength by Thee renewed; Then are my sins by Thee forgiv’n; Then dost Thou cheer my solitude With hopes of Heav’n. No words can tell what sweet relief There for my every want I find, What strength for warfare, balm for grief, What peace of mind. Hushed is each doubt, gone every fear; My spirit seems in Heav’n to stay; And e’en the penitential tear Is wiped away.   Let thine example, holy John, remind us, Ere we can meetly sing thy deeds of wonder, Hearts must be chastened, and the bonds that bind us Broken asunder! Lo! a swift angel, from the skies descending, Tells to thy father what shall be thy naming; All thy life’s greatness to its bitter ending Duly proclaiming. But when he doubted what the angel told him Came to him dumbness to confirm the story; At thine appearing, healed again behold him, Chanting thy glory! Oh! what a splendor and a revelation Came to each mother, at thy joyful leaping, Greeting thy Monarch, King of every nation, In the womb sleeping. Angels in orders everlasting praise Thee, God, in Thy triune majesty tremendous, Hark to the prayers we, penitents, upraise Thee: Save and defend us.
