2:7 The fifty members of the prophetic guild went and stood opposite them at a distance, while Elijah and Elisha ¹  stood by the Jordan.

2 Kings 10:4

10:4 They were absolutely terrified ²  and said, “Look, two kings could not stop him! ³  How can we?” ⁴ 

[2:7]  ¹ tn Heb “the two of them.” The referents (Elijah and Elisha) have been specified in the translation for clarity.

[10:4]  ² tn Heb “they were very, very afraid.” The term מְאֹד (me’od) “very,” is repeated for emphasis.

[10:4]  ³ tn Heb “did not stand before him.”

[10:4]  ⁴ tn Heb “How can we stand?”
