[21:13]  2 tn Heb “I will stretch out over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria, and the plumb line of the house of Ahab.” The measuring line and plumb line are normally used in building a structure, not tearing it down. But here they are used ironically as metaphors of judgment, emphasizing that he will give careful attention to the task of judgment.

[21:13]  3 tn Heb “just as one wipes a plate, wiping and turning [it] on its face.” The word picture emphasizes how thoroughly the Lord will judge the city.

[7:14]  4 tn Heb “over which my name is called.” For this nuance of this idiom cf. BDB 896 s.v. קָרָא Niph.2.d(4) and see the usage in 2 Sam 12:28.

[7:14]  5 tn Heb “fathers” (also in vv. 22, 25, 26).

[7:14]  6 tn Heb “I will do to this house which I…in which you put…and to this place which…as I did to Shiloh.”

[7:15]  7 tn Heb “the descendants of Ephraim.” However, Ephraim here stands (as it often does) for all the northern tribes of Israel.

[9:12]  8 tn Heb “he has fulfilled his word(s) which he spoke.”

[9:12]  9 tn Heb “our judges.”

[9:12]  10 tn Heb “who judged.”
