3:10 The king of Israel said, “Oh no! ¹  Certainly the Lord has summoned these three kings so that he can hand them over to the king of Moab!”

2 Kings 8:19

8:19 But the Lord was unwilling to destroy Judah. He preserved Judah for the sake of ²  his servant David to whom he had promised a perpetual dynasty. ³

18:23 Now make a deal ⁶  with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give you two thousand horses, provided you can find enough riders for them.

[3:10]  ¹ tn Or “ah.”

[8:19]  ² tn The Hebrew has only one sentence, “and the Lord was unwilling to destroy Judah for the sake of.” The translation divides it for the sake of clarity.

[8:19]  ³ tn Heb “just as he had promised to give him and his sons a lamp all the days.” The metaphorical “lamp” symbolizes the Davidic dynasty; this is reflected in the translation.

[12:15]  ³ tn Heb “gave.”

[12:15]  ⁴ tn Heb “and they did not conduct a reckoning of the men who gave the silver into their hand to give to the doers of the work, for in honesty they were working.”

[18:23]  ⁴ tn Heb “exchange pledges.”
