2 Kings 3:25

3:25 They tore down the cities and each man threw a stone into every cultivated field until they were covered. ¹  They stopped up every spring and chopped down every productive tree.

Only Kir Hareseth was left intact, ²  but the slingers surrounded it and attacked it.

2 Kings 10:21

10:21 Jehu sent invitations throughout Israel, and all the servants of Baal came; not one was absent. They arrived at the temple of Baal and filled it up from end to end. ³ 

2 Kings 13:7

13:7 Jehoahaz had no army left ⁴  except for fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and 10,000 foot soldiers. The king of Syria had destroyed his troops ⁵  and trampled on them like dust. ⁶ 

2 Kings 24:14

24:14 He deported all the residents of Jerusalem, including all the officials and all the soldiers (10,000 people in all). This included all the craftsmen and those who worked with metal. No one was left except for the poorest among the people of the land.

2 Kings 25:11

25:11 Nebuzaradan, the captain of the royal guard, deported the rest of the people who were left in the city, those who had deserted to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the craftsmen. ⁷ 

[3:25]  ¹ tn Heb “and [on] every good portion they were throwing each man his stone and they filled it.” The vav + perfect (“and they filled”) here indicates customary action contemporary with the situation described in the preceding main clause (where a customary imperfect is used, “they were throwing”). See the note at 3:4.

[3:25]  ² tn Heb “until he had allowed its stones to remain in Kir Hareseth.”

[10:21]  ³ tn Heb “and the house of Baal was filled mouth to mouth.”

[13:7]  ⁵ tn Heb “Indeed he did not leave to Jehoahaz people.” The identity of the subject is uncertain, but the king of Syria, mentioned later in the verse, is a likely candidate.

[13:7]  ⁶ tn Heb “them,” i.e., the remainder of this troops.

[13:7]  ⁷ tn Heb “and made them like dust for trampling.”

[25:11]  ⁷ tc The MT has “the multitude.” But הֶהָמוֹן (hehamon) should probably be emended to הֶאָמוֹן (he’amon).
