[4:18]  1 tn Heb “to his father, to the harvesters.”

[4:19]  2 tn Heb “He”; the referent (the boy’s father) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[6:21]  3 tn Heb “Should I strike them down? I will strike them down.” In the Hebrew text the first person imperfect form is repeated; the first form has the interrogative he prefixed to it; the second does not. It is likely that the second form should be omitted as dittographic or that the first should be emended to an infinitive absolute.

[6:21]  4 tn Heb “my father.” The king addresses the prophet in this way to indicate his respect. See 2 Kgs 2:12.

[9:28]  4 tn Heb “drove him.”

[10:35]  5 tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

[10:35]  6 map For location see Map2 B1; Map4 D3; Map5 E2; Map6 A4; Map7 C1.

[13:9]  6 tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

[13:9]  7 tn Heb “and they buried him.”

[14:5]  7 tn Heb “when the kingdom was secure in his hand.”

[14:5]  8 tn Heb “he struck down his servants, the ones who had struck down the king, his father.”

[14:20]  8 tn Heb “and they carried him on horses.”

[14:22]  9 tn Heb “he”; the referent (Azariah) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[14:22]  10 sn This must refer to Amaziah.

[14:22]  11 tn Heb “lay with his fathers.”

[14:29]  10 tn Heb “lay down with his fathers.”

[14:29]  11 tn The MT has simply “with the kings of Israel,” which appears to stand in apposition to the immediately preceding “with his fathers.” But it is likely that the words “and he was buried in Samaria” have been accidentally omitted from the text. See 13:13 and 14:16.

[15:3]  11 tn Heb “he did what was proper in the eyes of the Lord, according to all which Amaziah his father had done.”

[15:34]  12 tn Heb “he did what was proper in the eyes of the Lord, according to all which Uzziah his father had done.”

[17:14]  13 tn Heb and they stiffened their neck like the neck of their fathers.”

[18:3]  14 tn Heb “he did what was proper in the eyes of the Lord, according to all which David his father had done.”

[21:22]  15 tn Heb “and did not walk in the way of the Lord.”
