2 Kings 16:17

Context

16:17 King Ahaz took off the frames of the movable stands, and removed the basins from them. He took “The Sea” 5  down from the bronze bulls that supported it 6  and put it on the pavement.

[6:11]  3 tn Heb “Will you not tell me who among us [is] for the king of Israel?” The sarcastic rhetorical question expresses the king’s suspicion.

But here they are used ironically as metaphors of judgment, emphasizing that he will give careful attention to the task of judgment.

[21:13]  12 tn Heb “just as one wipes a plate, wiping and turning [it] on its face.” The word picture emphasizes how thoroughly the Lord will judge the city.
