Context
David is Anointed King

2:1 Afterward David inquired of the Lord, “Should I go up to one of the cities of Judah?” The Lord told him, “Go up.” David asked, “Where should I go?” The Lord replied, 1  “To Hebron.”

2 Samuel 2:10

Context
2:10 Ish-bosheth son of Saul was forty years old when he began to rule over Israel. He ruled two years. However, the people 2  of Judah followed David.

2 Samuel 12:8

Context
12:8 I gave you your master’s house, and put your master’s wives into your arms. 3  I also gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if all that somehow seems insignificant, I would have given you so much more as well!

2 Samuel 19:41-42

Context

19:41 Then all the men of Israel began coming to the king. They asked the king, “Why did our brothers, the men of Judah, sneak the king away and help the king and his household cross the Jordan – and not only him but all of David’s men as well?”

21:2 So the king summoned the Gibeonites and spoke with them. (Now the Gibeonites were not descendants of Israel; they were a remnant of the Amorites. The Israelites had made a promise to 5  them, but Saul tried to kill them because of his zeal for the people of Israel and Judah.)

24:9 Joab reported the number of warriors 6  to the king. In Israel there were 800,000 sword-wielding warriors, and in Judah there were 500,000 soldiers.
