23:1 These are the final words of David:

“The oracle of David son of Jesse,

the oracle of the man raised up as

the ruler chosen by the God of Jacob, 2

11:16 So as Joab kept watch on the city, he stationed Uriah at the place where he knew the best enemy soldiers 4  were.

[23:1]  2 tn Heb “the anointed one of the God of Jacob.”

[23:1]  3 tn Or “pleasant.”

[11:16]  4 tn Heb “the valiant men.” This refers in context to the strongest or most valiant defenders of the city Joab and the Israelite army were besieging, so the present translation uses “the best enemy soldiers” for clarity.
