3:39 Today I am weak, even though I am anointed as king. These men, the sons of Zeruiah, are too much for me to bear! ¹  May the Lord punish appropriately the one who has done this evil thing!” ²

2 Samuel 15:14

2 Samuel 24:16

24:16 When the angel ¹⁰  extended his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented from his judgment. ¹¹  He told the angel who was killing the people, “That’s enough! Stop now!” ¹²  (Now the Lord’s angel was near the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.)

2 Samuel 19:7

19:7 So get up now and go out and give some encouragement to ¹³  your servants. For I swear by the Lord that if you don’t go out there, not a single man will stay here with you tonight! This disaster will be worse for you than any disaster that has overtaken you from your youth right to the present time!”

[13:16]  ³ tn Heb “No, because this great evil is [worse] than the other which you did with me, by sending me away.” Perhaps the broken syntax reflects her hysteria and outrage.
