[6:2]  2 tn Heb “from,” but the following context indicates they traveled to this location.

[6:2]  3 tn This is another name for Kiriath-jearim (see 1 Chr 13:6).

[6:2]  4 tc The MT has here a double reference to the name (שֵׁם שֵׁם, shem shem). Many medieval Hebrew mss in the first occurrence point the word differently and read the adverb שָׁם (sham, “there”). This is also the understanding of the Syriac Peshitta (Syr., taman). While this yields an acceptable understanding to the text, it is more likely that the MT dittographic here. The present translation therefore reads שֵׁם only once.

[7:23]  5 tn Heb “a nation, one.”

[7:23]  6 tn Heb “whose God” or “because God.” In the Hebrew text this clause is subordinated to what precedes. The clauses are separated in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[7:23]  7 tn The verb is plural in Hebrew, agreeing grammatically with the divine name, which is a plural of degree.

[7:23]  8 tn Heb “redeem.”

[7:23]  9 tn Heb “and to do for you [plural form] the great [thing] and awesome [things] for your land.”

[7:23]  10 tn Heb “from Egypt, nations and their gods.” The LXX has “nations and tents,” which reflects a mistaken metathesis of letters in אֶלֹהָיו (elohav, “its gods”) and אֹהָלָיו (’ohalav, “its tents”).

[14:11]  9 tn The words “in that case” are not in the Hebrew text, but may be inferred from the context. They are supplied in the translation for the sake of clarification.

[14:11]  10 tn Heb “let the king remember.”

[14:11]  11 tn Heb “of your son.”

[18:28]  13 tn Heb “Peace.”

[18:28]  14 tn Heb “delivered over.”

[18:28]  15 tn Heb “lifted their hand against.”
