Acts 28:5

28:5 However, ¹  Paul ²  shook ³  the creature off into the fire and suffered no harm.

2:19 And I will perform wonders in the sky ⁴  above

blood and fire and clouds of smoke.

[28:5]  ¹ tn BDAG 737 s.v. οὖν 4 indicates the particle has an adversative sense here: “but, however.”

[28:5]  ² tn Grk “he”; the referent (Paul) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[28:5]  ³ tn Grk “shaking the creature off…he suffered no harm.” The participle ἀποτινάξας (apotinaxa") has been translated as a finite verb due to requirements of contemporary English style.

[2:19]  ⁴ tn Or “in the heaven.” The Greek word οὐρανός (ouranos) may be translated “sky” or “heaven” depending on the context. Here, in contrast to “the earth below,” a reference to the sky is more likely.
