6:10 Yet ¹  they were not able to resist ²  the wisdom and the Spirit with which he spoke.

Acts 10:6

10:6 This man is staying as a guest with a man named Simon, a tanner, ³  whose house is by the sea.”

[6:10]  ¹ tn Grk “and.” The context, however, indicates that the conjunction carries an adversative force.

[6:10]  ² sn They were not able to resist. This represents another fulfillment of Luke 12:11-12; 21:15.

[10:6]  ³ tn Or “with a certain Simon Berseus.” Although most modern English translations treat βυρσεῖ (bursei) as Simon’s profession (“Simon the tanner”), it is possible that the word is actually Simon’s surname (“Simon Berseus” or “Simon Tanner”). BDAG 185 s.v. βυρσεύς regards it as a surname. See also MM 118.
