Acts 7:17

7:17 “But as the time drew near for God to fulfill the promise he had declared to Abraham, ¹  the people increased greatly in number ²  in Egypt,

Acts 7:37

7:37 This is the Moses who said to the Israelites, ³  ‘God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers.’ ⁴ 

[7:17]  ¹ tn Grk “But as the time for the fulfillment of the promise drew near that God had declared to Abraham.” The order of the clauses has been rearranged to improve English style. See vv. 6-7 above.

[7:37]  ³ tn Grk “to the sons of Israel.”

[7:37]  ⁴ sn A quotation from Deut 18:15. This quotation sets up Jesus as the “leader-prophet” like Moses (Acts 3:22; Luke 9:35).
