Acts 7:42

7:42 But God turned away from them and gave them over ¹  to worship the host ²  of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: ‘It was not to me that you offered slain animals and sacrifices ³  forty years in the wilderness, was it, ⁴  house of Israel?

Acts 11:5

11:5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision, ⁵  an object something like a large sheet descending, ⁶  being let down from heaven ⁷  by its four corners, and it came to me.

[7:42]  ⁴ tn The Greek construction anticipates a negative reply which is indicated in the translation by the ‘tag’ question, “was it?”

[11:5]  ⁵ tn This term describes a supernatural vision and reflects a clear distinction from something imagined (BDAG 718 s.v. ὅραμα 1). Peter repeated the story virtually word for word through v. 13. The repetition with this degree of detail shows the event’s importance.

[11:5]  ⁷ tn Or “the sky” (the same Greek word means both “heaven” and “sky”).
