[9:4]  1 tn Grk “and he.” Because of the length of the Greek sentence, the conjunction καί (kai) has not been translated here. Instead a new English sentence is begun.

[9:4]  2 tn The double vocative suggests emotion.

[9:4]  3 sn Persecuting me. To persecute the church is to persecute Jesus.

[2:6]  4 tn Or “this noise.”

[2:6]  5 tn Or “was bewildered.”

[8:30]  7 tn The participle προσδραμών (prosdramwn) is regarded as attendant circumstance.

[8:30]  8 tn The words “to it” are not in the Greek text but are implied.

[8:30]  9 tn Grk “heard him”; the referent (the man) has been specified in the translation for clarity.

[8:30]  10 tn Grk “and he.” Because of the length of the Greek sentence, the conjunction καί (kai) has not been translated here. Instead a new English sentence is begun.

[8:30]  11 tn Grk “he said”; but since what follows is a question, it is better English style to translate the introduction to the question “he asked him.”

[24:24]  10 sn See the note on Antonius Felix in 23:24.

[24:24]  11 sn It is possible that Drusilla, being Jewish, was the source of Felix’s knowledge about the new movement called Christianity. The youngest daughter of Herod Agrippa I and sister of Agrippa II, she would have been close to 20 years old at the time. She had married the king of a small region in Syria but divorced him at the age of 16 to marry Felix. This was her second marriage and Felix’s third (Josephus, Ant. 19.9.1 [19.354], 20.7.2 [20.141-144]). As a member of Herod’s family, she probably knew about the Way.

[24:24]  12 tn The word “speak” is implied; BDAG 32 s.v. ἀκούω 1.c has “ἤκουσεν αὐτοῦ περὶ τῆςπίστεως he heard him speak about faith Ac 24:24.”

[24:24]  13 tn Or “Messiah Jesus”; both “Christ” (Greek) and “Messiah” (Hebrew and Aramaic) mean “one who has been anointed.”
