Daniel 2:10

Context

2:10 The wise men replied to the king, “There is no man on earth who is able to disclose the king’s secret, 1  for no king, regardless of his position and power, has ever requested such a thing from any magician, astrologer, or wise man.

Daniel 2:23

Context

2:23 O God of my fathers, I acknowledge and glorify you,

for you have bestowed wisdom and power on me.

Now you have enabled me to understand what I 2  requested from you.

For you have enabled me to understand the king’s dilemma.” 3 

Daniel 3:22

3:22 But since the king’s command was so urgent, and the furnace was so excessively hot, the men who escorted 4  Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were killed 5  by the leaping flames. 6

[2:10]  1 tn Aram “matter, thing.”

[2:23]  2 tn Aram “we.” Various explanations have been offered for the plural, but it is probably best understood as the editorial plural; so also with “me” later in this verse.

[2:23]  3 tn Aram “the word of the king.”

[3:22]  3 tn Aram “caused to go up.”

[3:22]  4 tn The Aramaic verb is active.

[3:22]  5 tn Aram “the flame of the fire” (so KJV, ASV, NASB); NRSV “the raging flames.”
