Daniel 2:23

2:23 O God of my fathers, I acknowledge and glorify you,

for you have bestowed wisdom and power on me.

Now you have enabled me to understand what I ¹  requested from you.

For you have enabled me to understand the king’s dilemma.” ² 

Daniel 4:37

4:37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, for all his deeds are right and his ways are just. He is able to bring down those who live ³  in pride.

Daniel 6:16

6:16 So the king gave the order, ⁴  and Daniel was brought and thrown into a den ⁵  of lions. The king consoled ⁶  Daniel by saying, “Your God whom you continually serve will rescue you!”

Daniel 6:20

6:20 As he approached the den, he called out to Daniel in a worried voice, ⁷  “Daniel, servant of the living God, was your God whom you continually serve able to rescue you from the lions?”

Daniel 11:38

11:38 What he will honor is a god of fortresses – a god his fathers did not acknowledge he will honor with gold, silver, valuable stones, and treasured commodities.

[2:23]  ¹ tn Aram “we.” Various explanations have been offered for the plural, but it is probably best understood as the editorial plural; so also with “me” later in this verse.

[4:37]  ³ tn Aram “walk.”

[6:16]  ⁵ tn Aram “said.” So also in vv. 24, 25.

[6:16]  ⁶ sn The den was perhaps a pit below ground level which could be safely observed from above.

[6:16]  ⁷ tn Aram “answered and said [to Daniel].”

[6:20]  ⁷ tn Aram “The king answered and said to Daniel.” This phrase has not been included in the translation for stylistic reasons; it is redundant in English.
