Daniel 2:23

2:23 O God of my fathers, I acknowledge and glorify you,

for you have bestowed wisdom and power on me.

Now you have enabled me to understand what I ¹  requested from you.

For you have enabled me to understand the king’s dilemma.” ² 

Daniel 7:6

7:6 “After these things, ³  as I was watching, another beast ⁴  like a leopard appeared, with four bird-like wings on its back. ⁵  This beast had four heads, ⁶  and ruling authority was given to it.

Daniel 7:14

7:14 To him was given ruling authority, honor, and sovereignty.

All peoples, nations, and language groups were serving ⁷  him.

His authority is eternal and will not pass away. ⁸ 

His kingdom will not be destroyed. ⁹ 

[2:23]  ¹ tn Aram “we.” Various explanations have been offered for the plural, but it is probably best understood as the editorial plural; so also with “me” later in this verse.

[2:23]  ² tn Aram “the word of the king.”

[7:6]  ³ tn Aram “this.” So also in v. 7.

[7:6]  ⁴ tn Aram “and behold, another one.”

[7:6]  ⁵ tn Or “sides.”

[7:6]  ⁶ sn If the third animal is Greece, the most likely identification of these four heads is the four-fold division of the empire of Alexander the Great following his death. See note on Dan 8:8.

[7:14]  ⁵ tn Some take “serving” here in the sense of “worshiping.”

[7:14]  ⁶ tn Aram “is an eternal authority which will not pass away.”

[7:14]  ⁷ tn Aram “is one which will not be destroyed.”
