2:33 Its legs were of iron; its feet were partly of iron and partly of clay. ¹

10:6 His body resembled yellow jasper, ²  and his face had an appearance like lightning. His eyes were like blazing torches; ³  his arms and feet had the gleam of polished bronze. His voice ⁴  thundered forth like the sound of a large crowd.

Daniel 5:6

5:6 Then all the color drained from the king’s face ⁵  and he became alarmed. ⁶  The joints of his hips gave way, ⁷  and his knees began knocking together.

[2:33]  ¹ sn Clay refers to baked clay, which – though hard – was also fragile. Cf. the reference in v. 41 to “wet clay.”

[10:6]  ² tn The Hebrew word translated “yellow jasper” is תַּרשִׁישׁ (tarshish); it appears to be a semiprecious stone, but its exact identity is somewhat uncertain. It may be the yellow jasper, although this is conjectural. Cf. NAB, NIV “chrysolite”; NASB, NRSV “beryl.”
