Daniel 2:39

2:39 Now after you another kingdom ¹  will arise, one inferior to yours. Then a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule in all the earth.

Daniel 4:31

4:31 While these words were still on the king’s lips, ²  a voice came down from heaven: “It is hereby announced to you, ³  King Nebuchadnezzar, that your kingdom has been removed from you!

Daniel 2:23

2:23 O God of my fathers, I acknowledge and glorify you,

for you have bestowed wisdom and power on me.

Now you have enabled me to understand what I ⁴  requested from you.

For you have enabled me to understand the king’s dilemma.” ⁵ 

Daniel 6:7

6:7 To all the supervisors of the kingdom, the prefects, satraps, counselors, and governors it seemed like a good idea for a royal edict to be issued and an interdict to be enforced. For the next thirty days anyone who prays ⁶  to any god or human other than you, O king, should be thrown into a den of lions.

Daniel 6:12

6:12 So they approached the king and said to him, ⁷  “Did you not issue an edict to the effect that for the next thirty days anyone who prays to any god or human other than to you, O king, would be thrown into a den of lions?” The king replied, “That is correct, ⁸  according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be changed.”

[2:39]  ¹ sn The identity of the first kingdom is clearly Babylon. The identification of the following three kingdoms is disputed. The common view is that they represent Media, Persia, and Greece. Most conservative scholars identify them as Media-Persia, Greece, and Rome.

[4:31]  ² tn Aram “in the mouth of the king.”

[4:31]  ³ tn Aram “to you they say.”

[2:23]  ³ tn Aram “we.” Various explanations have been offered for the plural, but it is probably best understood as the editorial plural; so also with “me” later in this verse.

[2:23]  ⁴ tn Aram “the word of the king.”

[6:7]  ⁴ tn Aram “prays a prayer.”

[6:12]  ⁵ tc The MT also has “about the edict of the king,” but this phrase is absent in the LXX and the Syriac. The present translation deletes the expression.
