[3:19]  1 tn Aram “the appearance of his face was altered”; cf. NLT “his face became distorted with rage”; NAB “[his] face became livid with utter rage.”

[3:19]  2 tn Aram “he answered and said.”

[8:5]  3 tn The words “all this” are added in the translation for stylistic reasons and for clarification.

[8:5]  4 tn Heb “and behold, a he-goat of the goats.”

[8:5]  5 tn Or “of the whole earth” (NAB, ASV, NASB, NRSV).

[8:5]  6 tn Heb “a horn of vision” [or “conspicuousness”], i.e., “a conspicuous horn,” one easily seen.

[11:18]  5 tn Heb “his face.” See v. 19 as well.

[11:18]  6 sn The commander is probably the Roman commander, Lucius Cornelius Scipio.

[11:18]  7 tn The Hebrew here is difficult in that the negative בִּלְתִּי (biltiy, “not”) is used in an unusual way. The sense is not entirely clear.

[11:18]  8 tn Heb “his shameful conduct he will return to him.”
