4:8 Later Daniel entered (whose name is Belteshazzar after the name of my god, ¹  and in whom there is a spirit of the holy gods). I recounted the dream for him as well,

9:4 I prayed to the LORD my God, confessing in this way:

“O Lord, ²  great and awesome God who is faithful to his covenant ³  with those who love him and keep his commandments,

[4:8]  ¹ sn This explanation of the meaning of the name Belteshazzar may be more of a paronomasia than a strict etymology.

[9:4]  ² tn The Hebrew term translated “Lord” here and in vv. 7, 9, 15, 16, and 19 is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

[9:4]  ³ tn Heb “who keeps the covenant and the loyal love.” The expression is a hendiadys.
