9:6 We have not paid attention to your servants the prophets, who spoke by your authority 1  to our kings, our leaders, and our ancestors, 2  and to all the inhabitants 3  of the land as well.

8:5 While I was contemplating all this, 4  a male goat 5  was coming from the west over the surface of all the land 6  without touching the ground. This goat had a conspicuous horn 7  between its eyes.

[9:6]  1 tn Heb “in your name.” Another option is to translate, “as your representatives.”

[9:6]  2 tn Heb “our fathers” (also in vv. 8, 16). The Hebrew term translated “father” can refer to more distant relationships such as grandfathers or ancestors.
