Deuteronomy 23:3

23:3

Ammonite <05984> [Ammonite.]

These nations were subjected for their impiety, wickedness, and enmity to Israel, (ver. 4, 5,) to peculiar disgrace; and on this account were not permitted to hold any office among the Israelites. This did not, however, disqualify them from becoming proselytes; for Ruth, who was a Moabitess, was married to Boaz, and became one of the progenitors of our Lord.

Nehemiah 13:1

13:1

day <03117> [that day.]

Some suppose that the events recorded in these verses took place several years after those related in the preceding chapter, while Nehemiah was absent at the Persian court; but the introductory language, on that day, seems rather to imply that they occurred immediately, or at least about that time.

read <07121> [they read. Heb. there was read.]

hearing <0241> [audience. Heb. ears. the Ammonite.]

Moabite <04125> [Moabite.]

Ezekiel 44:7

44:7

bring <0935> [ye have brought.]

foreigners <01121> [strangers. Heb. children of a stranger.]

uncircumcised ... heart <06189 03820> [uncircumcised in heart.]

The introduction of uncircumcised persons to eat of the peace offerings and oblations, would have been a gross violation of the Mosaic law; but, as there was no law to exclude "the uncircumcised of heart," who were circumcised and ritually clean, this seems to point out a new and different constitution.

offer <07126> [when.]

fat <02459> [the fat.]

broken <06565> [broken.]

Mark 13:14

13:14

abomination <946> [the abomination.]

where <3699> [where.]

reader <314> [let him.]

then <5119> [then.]
