Events at Horeb

1:6 The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb and said, “You have stayed ¹  in the area of this mountain long enough.

Deuteronomy 1:20

1:20 Then I said to you, “You have come to the Amorite hill country which the Lord our God is about to give ²  us.

2:33 the Lord our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, along with his sons ³  and everyone else. ⁴ 

[1:6]  ¹ tn Heb “lived”; “dwelled.”

[1:20]  ² tn The Hebrew participle has an imminent future sense here, although many English versions treat it as a present tense (“is giving us,” NAB, NIV, NRSV) or a predictive future (“will give us,” NCV).

[2:33]  ³ tc The translation follows the Qere or marginal reading; the Kethib (consonantal text) has the singular, “his son.”

[2:33]  ⁴ tn Heb “all his people.”
