Deuteronomy 15:2

15:2 This is the nature of the cancellation: Every creditor must remit what he has loaned to another person; ¹  he must not force payment from his fellow Israelite, ²  for it is to be recognized as “the Lord’s cancellation of debts.”

Deuteronomy 21:13

21:13 discard the clothing she was wearing when captured, ³  and stay ⁴  in your house, lamenting for her father and mother for a full month. After that you may have sexual relations ⁵  with her and become her husband and she your wife.

Deuteronomy 22:22

22:22 If a man is caught having sexual relations with ⁶  a married woman ⁷  both the man who had relations with the woman and the woman herself must die; in this way you will purge ⁸  evil from Israel.

Deuteronomy 24:4

24:4 her first husband who divorced her is not permitted to remarry ⁹  her after she has become ritually impure, for that is offensive to the Lord. ¹⁰  You must not bring guilt on the land ¹¹  which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.

[15:2]  ¹ tn Heb “his neighbor,” used idiomatically to refer to another person.

[15:2]  ² tn Heb “his neighbor and his brother.” The words “his brother” may be a scribal gloss identifying “his neighbor” (on this idiom, see the preceding note) as a fellow Israelite (cf. v. 3). In this case the conjunction before “his brother” does not introduce a second category, but rather has the force of “that is.”

[21:13]  ³ tn Heb “she is to…remove the clothing of her captivity” (cf. NASB); NRSV “discard her captive’s garb.”
