Deuteronomy 18:7

18:7 and serves in the name of the Lord his God like his fellow Levites who stand there before the Lord.

Deuteronomy 18:5

18:5 For the Lord your God has chosen them and their sons from all your tribes to stand ¹  and serve in his name ²  permanently.

Deuteronomy 18:20

18:20 “But if any prophet presumes to speak anything in my name that I have not authorized ³  him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.

Deuteronomy 18:22

18:22 whenever a prophet speaks in my ⁴  name and the prediction ⁵  is not fulfilled, ⁶  then I have ⁷  not spoken it; ⁸  the prophet has presumed to speak it, so you need not fear him.”

Deuteronomy 21:5

21:5 Then the Levitical priests ⁹  will approach (for the Lord your God has chosen them to serve him and to pronounce blessings in his name, ¹⁰  and to decide ¹¹  every judicial verdict ¹² )

[18:5]  ¹ tc Smr and some Greek texts add “before the Lord your God” to bring the language into line with a formula found elsewhere (Deut 10:8; 2 Chr 29:11). This reading is not likely to be original, however.

[18:5]  ² tn Heb “the name of the Lord.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons to avoid redundancy.
