Deuteronomy 19:13

19:13 You must not pity him, but purge out the blood of the innocent ¹  from Israel, so that it may go well with you.

Deuteronomy 24:10

24:10 When you make any kind of loan to your neighbor, you may not go into his house to claim what he is offering as security. ²

28:6 You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. ³ 

Deuteronomy 28:41

28:41 You will bear sons and daughters but not keep them, because they will be taken into captivity.

[19:13]  ¹ sn Purge out the blood of the innocent. Because of the corporate nature of Israel’s community life, the whole community shared in the guilt of unavenged murder unless and until vengeance occurred. Only this would restore spiritual and moral equilibrium (Num 35:33).

[24:10]  ² tn Heb “his pledge.” This refers to something offered as pledge of repayment, i.e., as security for the debt.

[28:6]  ³ sn Come in…go out. To “come in” and “go out” is a figure of speech (merism) indicating all of life and its activities.
