Deuteronomy 28:14
Context28:14 But you must not turn away from all the commandments I am giving 2 you today, to either the right or left, nor pursue other gods and worship 3 them.
Deuteronomy 17:20
Context17:20 Then he will not exalt himself above his fellow citizens or turn from the commandments to the right or left, and he and his descendants will enjoy many years ruling over his kingdom 4 in Israel.


[2:27] 1 tn Heb “in the way in the way” (בַּדֶּרֶךְ בַּדֶּרֶךְ, baderekh baderekh). The repetition lays great stress on the idea of resolute determination to stick to the path. IBHS 116 §7.2.3c.
[28:14] 2 tn Heb “from all the words which I am commanding.”
[28:14] 3 tn Heb “in order to serve.”
[17:20] 3 tc Heb “upon his kingship.” Smr supplies כִּסֵא (kise’, “throne”) so as to read “upon the throne of his kingship.” This overliteralizes what is a clearly understood figure of speech.
