Deuteronomy 28:53

28:53 You will then eat your own offspring, 1  the flesh of the sons and daughters the Lord your God has given you, because of the severity of the siege 2  by which your enemies will constrict you.

Deuteronomy 20:19-20

Context
20:19 If you besiege a city for a long time while attempting to capture it, 3  you must not chop down its trees, 4  for you may eat fruit 5  from them and should not cut them down. A tree in the field is not human that you should besiege it! 6  20:20 However, you may chop down any tree you know is not suitable for food, 7  and you may use it to build siege works 8  against the city that is making war with you until that city falls.

Deuteronomy 28:55

28:55 He will withhold from all of them his children’s flesh that he is eating (since there is nothing else left), because of the severity of the siege by which your enemy will constrict 9  you in your villages.

Deuteronomy 28:57

Context
28:57 and will secretly eat her afterbirth 10  and her newborn children 11  (since she has nothing else), 12  because of the severity of the siege by which your enemy will constrict you in your villages.

[28:53]  2 tn Heb “siege and stress.”

[20:19]  3 tn Heb “to fight against it to capture it.”

[20:19]  5 tn Heb “you may eat from them.” The direct object is not expressed; the word “fruit” is supplied in the translation for clarity.
