Deuteronomy 33:28
Context33:28 Israel lives in safety,
the fountain of Jacob is quite secure, 1
in a land of grain and new wine;
indeed, its heavens 2 rain down dew. 3
Deuteronomy 28:51
Context28:51 They 4 will devour the offspring of your livestock and the produce of your soil until you are destroyed. They will not leave you with any grain, new wine, olive oil, calves of your herds, 5 or lambs of your flocks 6 until they have destroyed you.

[33:28] 1 tn Heb “all alone.” The idea is that such vital resources as water will some day no longer need protection because God will provide security.
[33:28] 2 tn Or “skies.” The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heaven(s)” or “sky” depending on the context.
[33:28] 3 tn Or perhaps “drizzle, showers.” See note at Deut 32:2.
[28:51] 4 tn Heb “it” (so NRSV), a collective singular referring to the invading nation (several times in this verse and v. 52).
