4:15 Be very careful, ¹  then, because you saw no form at the time the Lord spoke to you at Horeb from the middle of the fire.

Deuteronomy 16:4

16:4 There must not be a scrap of yeast within your land ²  for seven days, nor can any of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day remain until the next morning. ³ 

Deuteronomy 31:18

31:18 But I will certainly ⁴  hide myself at that time because of all the wickedness they ⁵  will have done by turning to other gods.

[16:4]  ² tn Heb “leaven must not be seen among you in all your border.”

[16:4]  ³ tn Heb “remain all night until the morning” (so KJV, ASV). This has been simplified in the translation for stylistic reasons.

[31:18]  ³ tn The Hebrew text uses the infinitive absolute for emphasis, which the translation indicates with “certainly.”

[31:18]  ⁴ tn Heb “he.” Smr, LXX, and the Targums read the plural “they.” See note on the first occurrence of “they” in v. 16.
