4:2 Do not add a thing to what I command you nor subtract from it, so that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God that I am delivering to ¹  you.

Deuteronomy 11:28

11:28 and the curse if you pay no attention ²  to his ³  commandments and turn from the way I am setting before ⁴  you today to pursue ⁵  other gods you have not known.

Deuteronomy 16:3

16:3 You must not eat any yeast with it; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast, symbolic of affliction, for you came out of Egypt hurriedly. You must do this so you will remember for the rest of your life the day you came out of the land of Egypt.

Deuteronomy 28:13

28:13 The Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always end up at the top and not at the bottom, if you obey his ⁶  commandments which I am urging ⁷  you today to be careful to do.

[11:28]  ² tn Heb “do not listen to,” that is, do not obey.

[11:28]  ³ tn Heb “the commandments of the Lord your God.” The pronoun has been used in the translation for stylistic reasons to avoid redundancy.

[11:28]  ⁴ tn Heb “am commanding” (so NASB, NRSV).

[11:28]  ⁵ tn Heb “walk after”; NIV “by following”; NLT “by worshiping.” This is a violation of the first commandment, the most serious of the covenant violations (Deut 5:6-7).
